Bye bye Google Adwords: Indonesia’s entrepreneur

My friend Rendy Maulana finally decided to stop using Google Adwords for his Internet hosting business campaign.
“No matter what your budget, you can display your ads on Google and our advertising network. Pay only if people click your ads,” wrote Google about this service.
Despite the fact Google team already sent the Bandung-based young Internet entrepreneur the latest information on how to update his Adwords campaign after he quitting a few month ago, but it couldn’t change his mind.
“Using Adword was not effective campaign,” said the 20-years-old entrepreneur. “At least, based on my experience.”
He listed several factors in his blog:
- The traffics come from Adwords were relatively small –depends on how much you want to spent your money. If you spent more money, your sites will get more rotations, more impressions. But it’s not a good idea for small and medium businesses like Mr. Maulana owned and operated.
- The traffics mostly came from MFA (made for Adsense) sites, instead of rich-content sites. These sites mostly consist of other sites’ feed contents. No original content, to be more specific.
- The traffics mostly came from “robot”, instead of human, because the average visit length was less than 10 seconds.
- Less than 10 seconds visit means no purchasing.
- No refund from Google due to the fraud-publishers or the banned-publishers’ sites where the adwords appeared.
“So, I don’t know how many fraud-publishers whose display my Adwords, but I should pay full payment as my subscription commitment,” wrote Mr. Rendy.
In addition to this, he also revealed that Google often suspected a certain Adsense (Google’s advertising platform) publishers who made a fraud and so that Google didn’t pay revenue to them.
But it’s not happened to the advertisers like Mr. Maulana. Google kept charging him with full payment, no matters if most of their Adword traffics came from fraud-Adsense-sites or robot-clicks-sites.
Pay only if people click your ads, Google said. So, if the “robots” click the ads?

Hihihi, sejak beberapa hari lalu adsense sudah ‘ngambek’, mau ‘netel’ itu adsense, tapi kok masih belum ada waktu. Ya, biarlah iklan layanan masyarakat nongol dulu.

wa.. if more people stop using adwords, maybe adsense users will get less income dong?

saya kira kalo pasang adword dg budget yang kecil, kalau diitung2 memang rugi.memang banyak pemain bisnis yang memanfaatkan adword untuk mengiklankan bisnis nggak jelas, atau sebaliknya, banyak juga publisher yang mengelola situs2 dengan konten copas, bahkan lebih payah lagi cuma berisi sekumpulan keyword2. sama aja akan?
yang jelas, perlu strategi, untuk mencapai apa orientasi blog atau iklan kita. masalahnya itu, strategi macam apa yang oke, saya juga ndak paham betul,hehe…
om budi putra pasti lebih tahu. ayo dong om dibeberin di sini..

namanya juga dagang Bud, kadang menggunakan aneka trik untuk grab costumer. mungkin itu sebabnya kali, pendapatan iklan barisnya goole jauh melebihi iklan displaynya yahoo atau msn ya?

Thats benefit of being a very giant company like Google. On the Off line business, case such as above is often happen. Thats the risk of doing business.

Berarti selama ini Google untungnya dari begitu juga ya, jadi yang ikut adsense juga ikut bersalah dong…..:)

saya juga sudah stop nih..
but, dibanding pake adwords yang for content network, mending pake adwords yang utk search result aja, jadi ga kejadian dapet trafik dari MFA
