Government will invite bloggers to Yogyakarta, Bali
Indonesian government will invite five foreign bloggers on a round trip to Yogyakarta and Bali as part of the Pesta Blogger 2008. The bloggers are from the United States, China/Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and Malaysia. The blogging trip is a novel activity for the Pesta Blogger, the largest national-scale bloggers’ gathering in Indonesia. The five bloggers would start their trip in Bali on November 17 before going to Yogyakarta and Jakarta.
Chairman of Pesta Blogger 2008, Wicaksono told me that the Committee is now still seeking the foreign bloggers who will be invited to the party. Travel and culinary bloggers might be top priority, I guess.
The first Pesta Blogger last year attracted more than 500 bloggers and blogging enthusiasts from all across Indonesia. This year, according to Wicaksono, the Committee is expecting to double the number of participants to 1,000.
On last year’s Pesta Blogger, The Minister of Communications and Informatics of The Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Nuh, also declared the day (Oct 27) as National Bloggers’ Day. Unfortunately, for one or another reason, Pesta Blogger 2008 failed to be held on the same date.
Supported by US Embassy in Indonesia as the main sponsor, the event will be held on Saturday (November 22) in the BPPT II building on Jl M.H. Thamrin, Central Jakarta.

Yeah, I found it cool to sponsor international blogger for a trip and let them write whatever they can found during the trip. It’s a two sided knife but I’m pretty optimistic. Hopefully good thing will come up from this action. Bravo.

Hopefully it would be the first step to promote Indonesia abroad and should be followed up by other steps. It’s nice if blogger can help government to do this.
