Lifehacker blogger to aid White House!

Awesome, that's great news Gina! Congrats!
Lifehacker's founding editor Gina Trapani has just announced that she's joining Expert Labs, the government-oriented independent think tank led by Anil Dash and funded by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Her first project: deploying her Twitter-based decision making software called ThinkTank for the White House. The Obama administration announced the joint project with Expert Labs in a blog post earlier this month. As Trapani described it today: "The President has identified a series of scientific and technical challenges that are as important to the future as the moon landing was. And we want to help drive feedback on that list, and even suggest what other items should be on there that haven't been included."

Want to tweet for Obama?

President Barack Obama is looking for an official Tweeple. Hohohoho... that's an interesting and exciting job, right? Anyone interested?
The Democratic National Committee’s “social networks manager” job description says the position entails maintaining the President’s accounts on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Mia Cambronero, who currently holds the job, “will be stepping down from my infamous role as ‘Barack Obama’s twitterer,’” she said in an email message posted to a listserv. “We’re looking for someone who is available to start immediately.” The new hire will work closely with the rest of the new media department to execute grassroots campaigns to advance the President’s agenda for change, the listing says. Among the qualifications sought: “Ready to work hard; this isn’t a 9-5 sort of job.”
President Obama sends his own Tweet. Finally!

While on a visit to the Red Cross mission control center for Haiti, President Obama finally pushed “enter” on a tweet using The Red Cross Twitter account.
It seems appropriate to briefly interrupt today's radio silence to take note of the historic fact that President Barack Obama has tweeted for the very first time. Repeat, President Barack Obama has tweeted for the very first time. Those of you reading along in the privacy of your own homes, please make spirited "wooo, wooo, wooo" noises at this point.
First time? Remember the President told he never used Twitter during his visit to China last year? Yes, you've got it right: all tweets on the @barackobama account so far created by staffers! But OK. This is still the big news though :-)
